The Times They Are A-Changin'

For the past six months, Sew Today, Clean Tomorrow has grown from the occasional random craft related post to a slightly more regular, less random quilting blog. I have hosted quilt alongs, created patterns and participated in collaborative projects, like the Aussie Aviatrix Quilt AlongMy Easy Christmas Table Runner even made it to Number 1 in the Craftsy Top 20 Free Quilting Patterns. I bet you wish I'd caught that happy dance on video.

I created the Facebook group, the Fantastic Quiltastic Adventure, as a way for my Beginner Quilt Along participants to ask questions, show photos, provide support and easily interact with each other. The idea was to close the group once the quilt along ended, but it proved to be such a useful tool it would've been crazy to not keep it going. We've happily waltzed along since then, but, I've often felt like something was missing. There was just too much potential to not let it become much, much more. Unfortunately, the ideas I had for the group were going to take a lot more time and energy than I alone could provide. No matter how many Disney movies I plonked poppet in front of.

Enter Linden and Debra.

I have worked closely with Linden and Debra for previous projects and knew they would be the perfect additions to the group. Linden, from Vine Lines Quilting, is an experienced quilter who will provide that much needed second opinion to some of the crazier ideas I come up with. Debra, from Stitching Rules, is an experienced seamstress and PDF pattern maker who will really help the group evolve into more than 'just quilting'.

My dream is for the group to be a more admin-led forum than many of the sewing/quilting chat groups you find on Facebook. Members are still encouraged to post photos and ask questions, but admin will play a big part in starting discussions, releasing tutorials and hosting sew alongs. It will be the online equivalent of attending sewing or quilting sessions at your local store. Sometimes you work on your own thing, sometimes we all work together, but we're always meeting new people and having a great time.

To better represent the purpose of the group, we've come to the decision that a name change is required. While Fantastic Quiltastic Adventure is super funkalicious, it just doesn't suit the direction we are heading. Ideas were bounced around and we finally found the perfect name.

The Sew Quilty Workshop
